Good Old Morenci was written by my late husband Bill Thompson during the Phelps Dodge Copper Mine strike of 1983. It was played on local radio stations and as the sound track for NBC's national coverage of one of the most potentially dangerous strikes in American history.

My late husband, Bill Thompson, wrote this song during the flood of '83, which devastated many Arizona communities along the Colorado and Gila rivers. The flood came in the wake of the Phelps Dodge Copper Mine strike. The song was played often on local radio stations and as a soundtrack for newscasts.
